This body of work is to document my relationship with water. Take Me to the Water: Trust in the Current channels the different ways that water has healed, hurt, and been a place of refuge. Through abstraction, expressionism, and figurative work these paintings are a manifestation of my lived experiences and deepest thoughts. From birth under the Sun of Cancer, to collegiate swimming, water has been a constant in my life. Using the visual elements of texture, color, shape and pattern, each painting is a fractioned moment of a larger story. Water is life. It is steady yet forever changing; present through high and low tides. Learning to trust in the currents of life is a daily practice. This collection of paintings supports the effects in this practice.
